I am so blessed to know every one of these kinds of moms and to be a mom myself. We women are indeed blessed to have had our lives touched by a child. Motherhood is a gift, however it comes to you, for you have been given the gift of a life, created & given to you by our Heavenly Father, entrusted to you to love and nurture… one of His own children, as they journey through the life He gave them.
A child should never be taken for granted, for we never know the time we will have with them… a few hours, days, weeks, years or a lifetime. Love your children with intention. Let them see, feel, know and trust your love. It is their most basic need. It is their security. It is their confidence. It is part of their being and identity. It is priceless investment with huge returns, just ask any child who knows this kind of mother’s love or one who craves it desperately.
We are not promised forever with them, or them forever with us. I lost my mom at 11 years old to a car accident. The love, time and attention she poured into us in those short years; her compassion for others; the witness of her life and love for Christ; the mother and person she was, inspires and shapes me still.
I give my most special Happy Mother’s Day wishes to the two most special moms in my life. One is my step-mom who became my bonus mom when I was 12 years old and loved us and our dad very well. She is also a phenomenal grandmother to my son and he adores his Gran. The other special mom is my son’s first mom. I am forever grateful for her love for my son and her courage to make me his mom. I love her dearly and we are forever connected over the love for this one special boy who made us both first time moms…and is both our son!
We are blessed to have an open adoption which was not so common 18 years ago, but it has been the greatest gift the two of us have given him. He is blessed to have always known the love of his birth mom and her amazing family that we call our own. His life is deeper and richer because God has blessed him with the love of many families…mine, my husband’s and his birth family’s….so much love realized by a single child because everyone we love simply opened their hearts and minds to open adoption. Adoption is truly a special kind of love story!!

The first gave you a need for love, the second was there to give it
