December: Yin and Yang Month
December is the yin and yang month. It is a month designed to think about others, while also offering a period of self-focus.
Our hearts and thoughts turn towards others as we prepare for Christmas. We make lists of those dear to us, sending them cards and preparing presents. Cards and gifts serve to remind family and friends of their importance, often meeting tangible needs or offering surprises that uplift and renew the spirit.
We serve and give to charities, and to strangers near and far, acknowledging others who deeply need to feel loved, valued and given a greater hope in this world.
Days after Christmas, our thoughts turn toward ourselves. We swiftly move to reflecting on the past year’s dreams, goals, accomplishments, and relationships as the calendar signals the start of another new year! Resolutions are made… whether in vain or not, self reflection, new goals, and setting priorities brings a sense of renewal and energy that can carry us through the dimmer, colder January days ahead.
Here are five quotes and scriptures to encourage and inspire you during this month.

It is Christmas every time you let God love others through you…yes, it is Christmas every time you smile at your brother and offer him your hand.
Mother Teresa

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
John 1:5-11

Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.
Romans 12:10

December, being the last month of the year, cannot help but make us think of what is to come.
Fennel Hudson

It seems like everything sleeps in winter, but it’s really a time of renewal and reflection.
