Essential Oils for Holiday Travel
I am all unpacked from our recent Thanksgiving vacation in Sandestin, Florida. These little essential oil beauties were handpicked as my travel buddies, each for a specific reason or potential need.

Fantastic Franks Blend by Plant Therapy came along for its deep rich aroma that is perfect for Autumn, and it’s a powerhouse for overall wellness, calming, and first-aid.
⠀
Helichrysum italicum is my “must-have” first-aid oil, and the aroma simply soothes away any cares my mind holds.
⠀
Lavender angustifolia is my “ride or die” for relaxing, easing into a restful sleep, first-aid, and adding to most blends as a harmonizer.
⠀
Vetiver zizanioides is always in tow when I need to chill out. It’s like a warm bear hug or fuzzy blanket that puts me in a very tranquil state of mind and lets me tune out the noise.
⠀
Pine Scotch (Pinus sylvestris) was a must for its crisp woodsy aroma and its respiratory support during cold and flu season.
⠀
Black Spruce (Picea mariana) had to come along to help create the perfect “here comes Christmas vibe.” Its aroma is uplifting and it’s respiratatory supportive properties are a safety net duing cold and flu season.
Fall and Winter Vacation Inhaler Recipe
I’m never happy when my family feels under the weather, but my heart is happy when I am prepared and can craft something helpful. A few days before our Thanksgiving vacation, my husband was feeling fatigued with some respiratory symptoms.
He went to the doctor, who thankfully confirmed that he didn’t have the flu. While on vacation, my husband continued to feel bad and sadly missed our Thanksgiving dinner at the Marlin Grill that he had been looking forward too.
With only a few days to enjoy our time, I offered to make an aromatherapy inhaler for him.
Considering what he was experiencing, the essential oils I had on hand, and his aromatic preferences, this is the inhaler I customized for him. It worked well for him, and he was able to enjoy the last two days of our vacation.

Making Aromatherapy Inhalers
I learned in aromatherapy school that you can make a very effective blend with as few as three essential oils. I always start the selection process with an essential oil that addresses the main concern, then a supportive oil for any secondary concern, and a third essential oil to use as the harmonizer for the blend.
Aromatherapy inhalers are not only simple to make, but they are portable, discreet and easy to use by almost all ages. They require few ingredients and are long-lasting.
